Pengana’s high conviction fund welcomes addition of highly regarded portfolio manager
Pengana Capital Group’s High Conviction Equities Fund today announces the appointment of Jeremy Bendeich to the investment team as portfolio manager, alongside acclaimed investment manager James McDonald.
The High Conviction Equities Fund is a concentrated, ethically screened portfolio holding no more than twenty Australian and global companies at any time.
“Since the Fund’s inception in 2014, the Fund has significantly outperformed its benchmark across all time periods, having returned an average to 32.8% per annum to investors”, CEO of Pengana Russel Pillemer said.
“It is a highly sought-after product from Pengana’s high net worth investors and private wealth offices,” Mr Pillemer said.
The addition of Jeremy Bendeich to the investment team is a reflection of the fund’s growth prospects into the future.
“Jeremy has two decades of experience in the wealth management industry. He co-founded, and was CIO, at Avoca Investment Management for nine years, and was portfolio manager of the UBS Australian Small Companies Fund, which was awarded the Australian Fund Managers’ Best Small Cap Fund Manager of the Year in 2009,” he said.
Prior to joining UBS, Jeremy worked for four years as an investment analyst at Colonial First State covering the small caps market, as well as large-cap telcos, utilities, infrastructure, and property trusts.
Before entering funds management, Jeremy spent six years working in the Australian and New Zealand Governments’ Treasuries as an economist and policy advisor. He holds a Bec (Hons) from Sydney University.
Fund manager James McDonald said:
“Jeremy has 26 years of investing experience, looking predominantly at small and emerging companies, across all market cycles. Jeremy has looked at thousands of businesses over the years and numerous business models. We believe his knowledge of those models aligns strongly with the Fund’s investment process and will be hugely value-additive to our investors.”
